The AC Milan management met with the referee Calvarese after Saturday's 1-1 draw against Fiorentina to get his observations on the controversial incidents, a report claims.
The were a number of debatable calls made by the chief official during the game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, starting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic's first half goal which seemed to be harshly ruled out for offside.
Dalbert was then sent off upon Video Assistant Referee consultation for what was adjudged to be a last-man challenge on the Swede.
However, the most controversial episode came in the 85th minute when Alessio Romagnoli was punished for a tackle on Patrick Cutrone inside the box in which he seemed to clearly get the ball. Nonetheless, the spot kick was upheld and Erick Pulgar scored to snatch a point for the hosts.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday (via MilanNews), at the end of the game there was a calm and collaborative confrontation between the Milan management and the referee Calvarese.
Subsequently, there was also a discussion with the designated VAR chief, but in this case the explanations that were offered for the penalty on Romagnoli were not convincing, possibly hence why La Repubblica are reporting that the club will take matters further.
Meanwhile, il Corriere della Sera are reporting that the referee told Maldini the ball has in fact did not change direction, but was was only scraped by Romagnoli and therefore the awarding of the penalty was upheld.

The useless referee just killed that game probably because he didn’t want Milan to win. I still can’t get over the fact that the fool of a referee denied Milan 3 points. Such a shame to the sports.
