Manchester United's four-man shortlist as they chase a new striker has come to light.
The Red Devils are desperate for new signings amid a dreadful season that has left them 13th in the Premier League. Hopes of qualifying for European football through the league are now all but over.
It has been a tough start for boss Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag as manager in November. The 39-year-old has made it clear he does not believe United's squad is good enough to compete.
A major overhaul is expected over upcoming transfer windows. High up on Amorim's shopping list is a new striker, with his side having scored just 27 goals in the top-flight this season, worse than even relegation-battling Wolves.
With that in mind, the Daily Mail have claimed that Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha of Wolves, Ipswich centre-forward Liam Delap and Lille's Jonathan David are the four men on Amorim's shortlist.
The quartet are all being tracked by United scouts, having caught the eye of the Red Devils. A move for Mbeumo would be particularly difficult, with Brentford boss Thomas Frank having already made it clear he does not want to sell his star striker this month.
Another potential hold-up is the fact United need to make at least one significant sale before they can buy. Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo arre all seen as potential assets to be moved on.
Garnacho and Mainoo would generate by far the most profit under FFP rules. Moving Rashford on would also clear a significant chunk from the club's wage bill.
Garnacho’s representatives were at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, with the winger being linked with a move to Chelsea. Meanwhile, Napoli are set to hold further talks with United after coach Antonio Conte spoke to the Argentine personally.
There is no confirmation that selling any of the trio would lead to new signings, but Amorim appears to have made it clear who he wants to bring in. Ahead of the FA Cup win over Arsenal though, the United boss conceded he is facing a race against time to add to his squad.
"I don't remember saying clearly that I want new players. What I said is sometimes the profile for this system is different and the players come here with a different idea of how to play," Amorim said when asked about new signings.
"I don't remember saying that so clearly that I want new players. Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players we build for this club but we know what position the club is in at the moment."

Go get Victor Osihmen. That’s the kind of Striker that suits this coach. Aggression plus better work rate. Go for Arda Guller/Brahim Diaz. These are kind of players United need. United scouts are bunch of idiots.

Bryan mbeumo should reject manunited. This club turns every player into an average player. You can't realise your dreams at this club. it's not being called red devil 👿 for nothing. Nothing good can ever comes from the devil 👿.

United is not playing well as a team ; it doesn’t matter who you bring in as long as the system doesn’t change nothing changes : RUSHFORD IS OUT AND HAS BEEN OUT DID ANYTHING CHANGE ?? The team was winning with Rushford playing Amorim not there . Now they are loosing everything

for me amorim is the worst manager of this era. you buy players even if the tactics you display are the same, don't worry. shame for manchester united fans only. for me the existing players are good enough but because of the tactics you display are not good for the players. My advice for the players out there, think about it, if you want to play for Manchester United, you will regret not winning any trophies 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Liam Delap is the man United need. He is young and has opportunity to grow as a player. The other players are just working hard to get opportunity to move to a bigger club then relax. Liam is talented young player.
