Manchester United will reportedly be scouring the free transfer market this summer to aid Erik ten Hag's Red Devils rebuild.

According to The Sun, United don't have a huge budget to back the incoming Dutchman this summer and that has prompted them to assess which players are soon out of contract.

Stars such as Paulo Dybala at Juventus and Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona are eye-catching names overseas who are expected to become free agents, but it is unknown who United could be eyeing up for a free transfer.

The Sun add that United's budget has been dented by their failure to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Saturday's shock 4-0 defeat by Brighton in the Premier League erased all hope United have of qualifying for next season's lucrative elite club tournament.

Dybala, meanwhile, has confirmed he will leave Italian giants Juve but Dembele appears to now be open to staying at Barcelona. Recent reports suggest the Frenchman could cut his wage demands in order to reach a deal with the Catalan club.

Other notable names with expiring contracts include Franck Kessie at AC Milan, Isco at Real Madrid and Christian Eriksen at Brentford.

United have just one game remaining before bringing the curtain down on a miserable season at Old Trafford - they are away to Crystal Palace on May 22 in the last match before the Ten Hag era begins.

There are a number of players who are also departing United on a free transfer this summer.

Paul Pogba is the stand-out name - he is expected to leave the Premier League and join a club abroad - while the likes of Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata are also set to depart.
