Roberto Mancini is one off the all-time record of nine consecutive Italy victories, set by Vittorio Pozzo in 1938-39.
The Azzurri saw off Greece 2-0 this evening to secure their place at Euro 2020 and are mathematically guaranteed top of Group J too.
There are still three games to go in this group and Mancini can still write himself another place in history.
He has now won eight in a row in all competition, so in Liechtenstein on Tuesday night Mancini can equal the all-time Italy record of nine.
That was set by Vittorio Pozzo, the Coach who won Italy’s first two World Cups in 1934 and 1938, with a streak that ran from 1938-39.
Italy had never previously won six consecutive European qualifiers, let alone seven, as the previous record was four set by Azeglio Vicini in 1986-87 and Antonio Conte in 2014.
