Mario Balotelli is on the verge of joining Romanian side CFR Cluj after his time in Italy came to an end.
Balotelli recently quit Brescia following their relegation from Serie A and a dispute over his contract.
The 29-year-old had been expected to stay in Italy or move to Flamengo in Brazil but is now said to be close to signing for CFR Cluj, which would be his fourth permanent club in four years.
He has held advanced talks with manager Dan Petrescu, the former Chelsea defender.
The club's owner also hinted at a move for the former Manchester City and Liverpool striker earlier this week.
Nelutu Varga told local media that he planned on signing Slavia Prague winger Nicolae Stanciu and a 'top Italian striker'.
'This will be a real coup for Romanian football,' added Varga.
