Paulo Futre knows what it's like to come close to winning the Ballon d'Or, having finished second behind Ruud Gullit in 1987 when he was at Atletico Madrid.
He has written a message for Antoine Griezmann, who came third in this year's voting, advising the Frenchman not to worry and that his failure to win the prize might have something to do with the club he plays for.
"Don't worry Griezmann," he said on Twitter.
"Sometimes winning the Champions League isn't even a historic thing.
"Maybe the problem is the colour of the team.
"Forza Atleti, a big hug for you superstar."

Why is Griezman and the people around him disturbing? The guy was never exceptional over the year. He was just OK. If for being in a team that won awards the. VARANE IS THE MOST APPROPRIATE. I thought the award for for exceptional performance and he wasn't the best by any measurement - goals, assists, personal awards; NOTHING. They should stop disturbing our peace.
