Messi angry reaction as organiser asks Antonela to get out of Ballon d’Or photo

LIONEL MESSI channelled his inner Patrick Swayze on Monday as he refused to let anyone put his baby in the corner.

The 34-year-old Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain forward was just about to be crowned Ballon d’Or winner for a seventh time when the incident occurred.

The Barcelona legend was accompanied by his wife Antonela and sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro at the bash.

With his kids dressed in the exact same suit as their father, the family made their way together along the red carpet and posed for the world’s media.

However, Messi was furious when his childhood sweetheart was amazingly asked to leave his side and get out of the lens’ focus.

In footage posted online, a France Football director can be seen asking Antonela to step aside.

The director appeared to want a snap of just Messi and his children in their matching attire.

Antonela initially did as instructed and went to walk off before the angry forward instantly told her to come back by his side before more photos were taken.

Antonella did not seem to be too deterred by the incident as afterwards she was spotted after the event holding her hubby’s trophy alongside the partners of fellow PSG stars Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Sergio Rico and Leandro Paredes.

But it was Messi’s actions that had fans talking on Twitter, with many hailing him.

One wrote: “Never mess with the king’s wife.”

Another said: “She supported him when he had nothing and he made sure she is there when he has everything. I can totally feel him.”

While a fellow supporter commented: “Messi really dearly loves his wife. I respect that.”

Messi and Antonella were introduced by her cousin Lucas Scaglia - who was also at Newell’s Old Boys - at the age of nine.

She remained by his side when he moved from South America to Barcelona and has been with him for all of his Ballon d'Ors.

And last summer her and the boys moved with him from Catalonia to the French capital for his latest venture in Ligue 1.
