Lionel Messi's father and representative, Jorge, will jet out to Barcelona for crunch talks over the superstar's future, according to reports.
The 33-year-old's destination next season is mired in uncertainty, although his current club may be more confident of keeping him under president Joan Laporta.
TNT Sports journalist Maximiliano Grillo claims that Jorge will fly out to speak to Laporta on Monday with the big-name transfer saga finely poised.
Messi infamously made his desire to walk away from the Nou Camp clear last summer - but was prevented from leaving by former club chief Josep Bartomeu.
The previous hierarchy stepped down in the face of fierce backlash, however, with Laporta, who has previously held the role, making a much-heralded return.
His election success may prove crucial in convincing Messi to once again commit his future to Barcelona.
It has been claimed that Jorge will fly out from Argentina in the coming days in order to discuss the possibility of his son penning a new contract.
His current deal is set to run down at the end of the season - and Messi is able to discuss pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs in its final six months.
Messi was keen to avoid a lengthy court battle with the club after his insistence that a break clause would allow him to leave for free was rebuffed by Bartomeu.
And, with his 16-year spell in Catalonia now balanced on a knife edge, work is underway to secure his future in LaLiga.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have both been touted to swoop on a free transfer in the event he does decide to look for a new challenge.
Barcelona remain embroiled in financial chaos and the situation is hampering Laporta's efforts to make Messi a lucrative offer for fresh terms.
The Argentina great is by far their highest earner - with Messi's eye-watering wage package claimed to be around £77million per year.
Sportsmail understands that Messi will only make his highly-anticipated decision at the end of the season.

Messi staying and leaving is totally depend on sporting project from Laporta.. If Barcelona doesn't sell underperforming players and buy some good players.. Messi will be leaving soon.. They have already made a big mistake leaking his contract out..

Sarabia: "Being Leo is very difficult, you're the best player of all time, you're very well known and you can't go out on the street, all that produces wear and mental fatigue. This is why he wanted to leave."
