Liverpool could be without Mohamed Salah for two key games next season due to the Egyptian forward's African Cup of Nations commitments.
Egypt have won the tournament six times in their history, although not since 2010, and will appear at the 2024 addition after going unbeaten through qualifying.
This is likely to cause problems for Liverpool, as AFCON will run between January 13 and February 11 next year, the heart of the football season.
It means Salah is likely to miss their clash with Bournemouth (January 13) as well as potentially season-defining games against Chelsea (31 January) and Arsenal (February 3).
If Egypt make it to the latter stages of the tournament, they lost on penalties to Senegal in the 2021 final, he could also miss matches against Burnley (February 10) and Brentford (February 17).
Losing the 31-year-old for such a chunk of the season could have a big effect on Liverpool's progress in 2023/24.
Despite a poor year overall for Liverpool that saw them finish without a trophy and outside of the Champions League places, which Salah admitted was not good enough, the winger still netted 30 goals across all competitions for the third season in a row in 2022/23.
He remains a key player for Jurgen Klopp, and will be the sole survivor of Liverpool's all-conquering front three after Roberto Firmino's exit.
The Reds start their Premier League campaign with a mouth-watering fixture against Chelsea on Sunday August 13, with a 4:30PM kick off.
Liverpool had put in a request to the Premier League for their opener to be played away from home due to ongoing construction works to expand the Anfield Road Stand.
They will then face Bournemouth at a re-vamped Anfield, before a daunting trip to St James' to take on Champions League newcomers Newcastle.
Klopp's side face title rivals Manchester City away on November 25, before the home game comes around on March 9 2024.
One game that appears to have spooked Liverpool fans is their clash with Wolves on the last day of the season.
The same fixture has ended their season twice in recent years, with the Reds winning the game but finishing second in the Premier League table by a point on both occasions.
