Victor Osimhen has risen to become a hot commodity for Europe's top clubs after a blistering season with Napoli that has seen the team win the Serie A title.
The Nigerian striker has now attracted interest from a number of clubs who will be interested in signing a world-class striker ahead of next season.
Victor Osimhen, Didier Drogba, Jose Mourinho, Napoli, Chelsea
Among the clubs believed to be keeping tabs with the 24-year-old are Manchester United and Chelsea. These two Premier League outfits understandably need a striker given their struggles in that department in recent times.
United coach, Erik ten Hag has navigated most of the season without a striker after Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, with a loan move for Wout Weghorst failing to bear fruit in the absence of injury-prone Anthony Martial.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have invested heavily in that department, with Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata quickly coming to mind, but none have been able to fill Diego Costa's boots so far, as captured by 442.
Mourinho's thoughts on Osimhen
Speaking earlier this year, legendary former Chelsea coach, Jose Mourinho advised the Nigerian to change his game if he were to move to England.
In his characteristic sarcastic form, the Special One accused Osimhen of diving a lot and compared him to another Blues legend - Didier Drogba.
"He is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive. If Victor changes, then OK," Mourinho said, as quoted by Football London.
"I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money. However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change because, in Italy, they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down tough on him."
Whether a diver or not, Osimhen's antics have helped Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Osimhen nominated for Serie A award
Sports Brief also reported that the Super Eagles duo of Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were nominated for the Serie A team of the season following their incredible displays for their clubs.
The former has been brilliant this term for Napoli, who recently won the Scudetto after more than three decades, while Lookman has also been in fine form for Atalanta in the Italian top flight.

Chelsea owners should give the Coach chance to buy players whom he can work with and listen to his guidelines and tactics period. That system of buying players on your own it is not going to help the incoming manager. Players respects the coach mostly when the Coach himself made decision and contact him and agree to both parties. A Coach as limited powers to players when team management is responsible in transfer market. Involve the coaching staff in transfer market, that's how football should be running and the Coach will be at liberty vocal to players
