The former Chelsea and Inter Milan coach is being linked with Benfica for next season.
Record says Mourinho cancelled a visit to the stadium in order not to stir up further unrest among the Eagles.
The 61-year-old had originally planned to watch the match against Olympique Marseille (2:1) on Thursday at the Estádio da Luz.
However, Mourinho did not want to send the wrong signals and stayed away from the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
Benfica's head coach Roger Schmidt has been under pessure this season, which has led to Mourinho being considered as a successor.

The he dragged Man Utd back who can count the number of years they waited for trophy before he came or Tottenham that hasn't played any cup final since the UCL against Liverpool but qualified them for final before he left or Roma that hasn't feature in any European final but played it consecutively with Mourinho.
