Multiple sources: Villa to sign Suzuki Zion even if E. Martinez's move to Juventus falls through

Multiple European and American media outlets reported that negotiations over E. Martinez's transfer to Juventus have broken down. Even if the first-choice goalkeeper stays, Aston Villa has still finalized the signing of Japanese international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who has already completed his medical examination.

Previously, Juventus planned to sign E. Martinez on loan, offering a basic fee of 6 million euros, with potential bonuses up to 10 million euros; however, Villa insisted on 15 million euros, leaving a significant gap between the two offers. In addition, E. Martinez has been receiving conservative treatment for a fractured ring finger on his right hand since before the US, Canada, and Mexico World Cup. After evaluation, Juventus believed the injury posed a hidden risk and was unwilling to take the chance, ultimately terminating the negotiations.

Juventus has shifted its transfer target and reached an agreement with Vicario on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Although E. Martinez's transfer fell through, Villa's plan to sign Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki remains unchanged. Initially, signing Zion Suzuki was partly intended to fill the goalkeeper position following E. Martinez's departure. The player has now completed his medical examination, and the transfer is still proceeding as planned.
