Napoli accuse PSG of illegal practice in pursuit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23) is no secret. Whilst Napoli are determined to retain the Georgia international, the player’s agent has been publically pushing for a move to PSG.

Napoli remain firm in their stance that they will not sell the winger this summer and this stance has been echoed by new manager Antonio Conte. However, Kvaratskhelia himself has already agreed terms with Les Parisiens, as per L’Équipe. Yet there is a gulf in the two clubs’ valuation of the winger, whom PSG see as a potential replacement for Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappé.

However, the relationship between the two clubs is seemingly poor Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis accusing the Ligue 1 champions of illegal practice in their pursuit of Kvaratskhelia. “There are clubs that make proposals to players with no authorisation. It’s illegal. In that club, there’s the president of the ECA (European Club Association) but I’m not even surprised about these things in football,” said the Napoli president, as transcribed by Fabrizio Romano.

In his statement, De Laurentiis is referring to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who is also the president of the ECA. Unhappy with PSG’s “illegal” approach for Kvaratskhelia, Napoli seem as determined as ever to retain their forward. PSG will almost certainly have to look elsewhere.
