Napoli fans 'unhappy with Sarri's coaching of Juve as they REMOVE his plaque'

Napoli fans have been left so upset at the news that former boss Maurizio Sarri is taking over at Juventus that they have ripped down a plaque dedicated to him.

The sign, put up in 2017 in the Bagnoli district, read 'Hasta siempre, commander' which translates as 'Until always, commander'.

But having returned to Serie A to take over at the club's biggest rivals for the title, the sign has been taken down as Napoli fans show their anger at his return.

'We never wanted to confuse politics and support but our hearts are crying to read the bitterness of so many people, like us, who believed and had put their trust in someone to continue to believe in football. A trust that is regularly broken by market laws,' reads the Facebook page of the Political Laboratory Iskra.

'When will we decide to no longer be client-subjects and will we begin to be consciously inhabitants and fans?

'How many more would we like to become attached to and then be disappointed by their choices?'

The plaque was placed on the wall of No 51 at the Via Silio Italico, Naples, where Sarri was born back in January 1959. His father worked in a steelworks in Bagnoli and the family quickly became synonymous with the region.

Gonzalo Higuain faced a similar backlash having swapped Naples for Turin and it appears Sarri is now being regarded in the same manner.

News of his departure from Chelsea was confirmed on Saturday with former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard now the favourite to succeed him.

The smoking Italian manager signed a contract until June 2022 believed to be worth around £18million.

He had previously been an amateur footballer and a banker before taking over as Stia manager in 1990. He then spent time at the likes of Hellas Verona, Perugia and Empoli before taking over at Napoli in 2015.
