Napoli are reportedly weighing up a shock move to bring back Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has already held talks with Coach Carlo Ancelotti over Quagliarella’s return.
The 36-year-old is set to run out as this season’s top goalscorer, having netted 26 times – four more than nearest competitors Duvan Zapata and Krzysztof Piatek.
The Italy international was born in Naples and played for his hometown club during the 2009-10 campaign, scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances.
However, it later emerged that he abruptly cut his spell at the San Paolo short because of a stalker.
Quagliarella is the second player over 30 to be linked with a summer switch to the Partenopei this week after Atalanta’s Josip Ilicic.
