Nasser Al-Khelaifi's plans for a new-look PSG

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi received a huge boost following Kylian Mbappe's contract renewal and demonstrated that he's taken charge of the team after parting ways with sporting director Leonardo.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino's future remains uncertain, with the names of Jose Mourinho, Marcelo Gallardo, Christophe Galtier, Ruben Amorin or even Zinedine Zidane emerging as potential suitors to succeed the Argentine coach.

Leonardo departed PSG last Thursday after reaching an agreement with the club to put an end to his second spell as the club's sporting director.

Pochettino on standby

The Argentine coach has communicated to his players that pre-season preparations will kick off on July 4. Pochettino has not received any call by the club since the team lifted the Ligue 1 trophy 16 days ago at the Parc des Princes.

Meanwhile, there are rumours linking several coaches to his job at PSG. The last name to emerge was that of Roma tactician Mourinho. However, the fact is that Pochettino has one more year left on his contract and he hasn't received any update about a potential imminent departure.

Luis Campos' role

With Leonardo's departure, the path for Luis Campos to become an advisor to the president is completely open.

Mourinho's former assistant coach at Real Madrid will serve as consultant and man of confidence to Al-Khelaifi, having already undertaken the same role in his time with Celta Vigo.

He will not become PSG's sporting director, but he will have a say in the club's decisions, with Al-Khelaifi being in charge.

Meanwhile, it is believed that the main reason behind Leonardo's departure is that there was not much connection between him and Mbappe during the contract renewal talks.
