Palermo will now go by the name of ‘Palermo Football Club’ and are looking for a new coach, despite their promotion to Serie C.
Palermo were refounded last summer as ‘SSD Palermo’, scrapping their previous denomination of US Citta di Palermo.
To coincide with their return to league football, it was decided at a shareholders’ meeting earlier today that the Sicilian side’s full name would be changed to ‘Palermo Football Club’.
However, their first season as Palermo Football Club will be without coach Rosario Pergolizzi after they chose to dispense with him.
The 51-year-old - Rosanero through and through - led the club back into Serie C, taking them top of Serie D Group I before coronavirus stopped the season.
