Chilean Alexis Sanchez strengthens Sevilla's attack

Agreement with Udinese Calcio for the transfer of the striker, who signs a one-season deal.

Sevilla FC and Udinese Calcio have reached an agreement for the signing of Chilean striker Alexis Sánchez to the Sevilla club for one season. With a career that few can match and having played for many of the biggest clubs in the world of football, Alexis arrives at Nervión to bring his experience and goal-scoring instincts. His trophy cabinet includes, among other trophies: a Spanish league title, a Copa del Rey title, two FA Cups, two Serie A titles, two Italian Cups, a European Super Cup, a Club World Cup, and two Copa América titles with Chile , with which he has accumulated 168 senior caps.

Born in the Chilean town of Tocopilla on December 19, 1988, his professional debut was in 2005 with Cobreloa, where he debuted in the Copa Libertadores at a young age. In 2007, he caught the attention of Udinese, who loaned him out to Colo-Colo in his home country before bringing him to Europe. After two semi-annual tournaments, Alexis went on loan again, this time to River Plate, where he won the 2008 Argentine Clausura before finally moving to Italy. He completed three seasons there, the last being his most prolific in terms of goals. This opened the door to none other than FC Barcelona in the summer of 2011. In LaLiga, he established himself as a goalscorer, netting 46 goals in three seasons before signing for Arsenal FC in the summer of 2014. It was at the Emirates Stadium where he reached his highest individual heights, scoring 80 goals in the 166 official matches he played for the Gunners over three and a half seasons. In January 2018, he signed for Manchester United.

However, a series of injuries prevented him from shining at Old Trafford. After just a year and a half as a Red, he returned to Italy in the summer of 2019 to sign for Inter on loan. And although he hadn't quite found his best form, at the end of that season, losing to his current club in the UEL final in Cologne, Alexis remained at Inter on loan. He scored 20 goals in his three seasons with Inter and in the summer of 2022, embarked on a new loan adventure, this time in France with Olympique de Marseille. At the Vélodrome, he once again performed at a high level, scoring 18 goals in 44 matches . This allowed him to return to Inter for the 2023/24 season, with whom he scored four more goals. After his contract at the Giuseppe Meazza ended, Alexis returned last season to his first European team, Udinese, from where he now arrives at Nervión to join his compatriot Gabriel Suazo.

After a spectacular career and 165 goals for his different clubs, the player with the most appearances in the history of the Chilean national team arrives in Seville, a total of 168, in which he has scored 51 goals . His last match with La Roja was last June, while his debut was in a friendly against New Zealand in 2006. He participated in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the last two contested by his country, as well as the Copa América in 2015, 2016 (both won), 2019, 2021 and 2024. He was also runner-up in the 2017 Confederations Cup.
