OFFICIAL: Simon Kjaer announces his retirement from football as a player at 35
Simon Kjaer has announced his decision to retire from football on TV 2 Sport: "Now is really the right time to close this chapter of my life," said the Dane who was a free agent after his contract with Milan expired on June 30. The former Rossoneri player played his last match on June 8 in a friendly with Denmark against Norway. In recent months, Kjaer has also had offers from clubs playing in the Champions League, but no one has managed to convince him to say yes.
"In my head, I wanted to end my career at Milan. I knew very well that from there, in search of something else, I was so far away in my thoughts and in the process in my head that I couldn't have had a better ending. I had the end at San Siro and that experience... I knew very well that that was my end," explained the Danish defender who played his last official match on May 25 against Salernitana at San Siro with the Milan shirt.
