Arsenal loanee David Ospina has been diagnosed with a head trauma after suffering a blow to the skull during Napoli's Serie A encounter with Udinese on Sunday.
Ospina underwent a CAT scan and stayed in hospital overnight for observation. Thankfully the scan came back clear.
'David Ospina has had a CAT scan after being involved in a collision during the game,' Napoli tweeted on Sunday night.
'The scan has come back clear but Ospina will stay in a clinic overnight for observation.'
The 30-year-old was caught on the head in a collision with Udinese winger Ignacio Pussetto after only seven minutes of the first half.
The Colombian goalkeeper received treatment immediately after the nasty clash that left him with a cut to his forehead but was able to play on.
Following the treatment, Ospina went on to concede twice before fainting on the pitch without anyone around him in the 44th minute, prompting his worried Napoli team-mates to call for the stretcher.
The goalkeeper was tended to immediately again before being driven off the pitch on a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Alex Meret came on to replace Ospina before the break. Napoli went on to win the game 4-2.
Ospina made his loan move to the Naples club from the Gunners last summer following the arrival of Bernd Leno.
He would be eligible to face his parent club in the Europa League after Napoli were drawn against Arsenal for the quarter-finals.
Napoli will be hoping Ospina makes a full and quick recovery following the worrying scenes on Sunday.
