Ricardo Gareca will lead his Peru side into their most important match in decades on Sunday, as they take on Brazil in the Copa America final.

Although there was VAR controversy in Brazil's semi-final victory over Argentina, the coach isn't worried about the impact officiating could have on the final.

"It's not our style to speculate over things like this," he said at a pre-match press conference on Saturday.

"We believe in the refereeing.

"Everyone makes mistakes.

"I'm not worried about VAR.

"VAR does have to progress, but I'm not at all worried about it for this final."

Peru have already met Brazil in this Copa America and they lost 5-0 against the host nation in the group stages, so Gareca was asked if that previous result would have an impact in this upcoming fixture.

"We want this match to be different, but I can't predict anything," he said.

"We feel good, as defeating Uruguay and Chile has strengthened us.

"Brazil have had a solid Copa America and we'll face a team in good form.

"We'll try to take the ball away from them because the more we have of it the better.

"But it's difficult to take it away from them.

"We'll attack Brazil and we'll seek the victory."
