Rafael Leao faces uncertain future as AC Milan prepares sale

Rafael Leao is now at the center of a surprising transfer situation as AC Milan reportedly sets a much lower asking price than expected.

Rafael Leao, once valued among Europe’s elite attackers, has seen his status decline after a series of inconsistent performances and recurring injuries.

Not long ago, the Portuguese star attracted interest from giants like Bayern Munich, with rumors of €100 million offers, but that level of interest has clearly cooled.

Rafael Leao has also experienced a noticeable drop in market value, falling from around €90 million to approximately €65 million, according to Transfermarkt. Beyond his performances, reports in Italy mention tensions with coach Massimiliano Allegri and concerns about his attitude, factors that have contributed to AC Milan’s willingness to move on. Despite being under contract until 2028, the club no longer sees him as a key part of its long-term project.

Rafael Leao could now leave for around €50 million, a fee considered a bargain given his talent and past reputation. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has already offered him to several clubs, including FC Barcelona, although the Catalans appear reluctant to pursue the deal. Rafael Leao remains a unique attacking profile, and clubs seeking offensive reinforcements this summer may see this as a rare market opportunity.
