Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus will make a new attempt to revive the European Super League, according to a new report.

Plans for the controversial league were scrapped in 2021 following huge backlash from fans all over Europe.

But LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona as well as Serie A side Juventus have continued to pursue the breakaway league and they will make new efforts to revive it over the coming weeks according to the Telegraph.

Last weekend, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reinstated his desire to see the competition formed in the near future

Speaking at the club's AGM on Sunday, Perez said: 'To fix a problem, you have to first recognise that you have a problem. Our sport is sick. It is losing its leadership as a global sport.

'We mustn't be confused by the impact of Real Madrid's European Cup run when we were involved in seven games of the highest intensity and interest.

'That was the result of the draw, and of the quality and greatness of our team. It was a spectacle that helped bring excitement back to the viewers.

'That's why we believe European competitions must change, to offer fans top-level games year-round between the strongest teams, with the best players competing.'

Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli, another advocate for the European Super League, spoke about the club's financial sustainability and the Premier League's financial dominance in an open letter to his club’s shareholders on Thursday, insisting the Super League would help overcome those problems.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta will on Sunday speak about the Catalan club's finances and he is expected to also mention the European Super League at the annual assembly.

All three clubs are currently awaiting judgement from the European Court of Justice in regards to UEFA's control of European football.

Verdict is set to be delivered on December 15 and the clubs will have a clearer indication as to whether they can continue to pursue the European Super League.

Big figures like Perez and Agnelli are expected to be present at the hearing and they will explain how the new plans differentiate from those that were immediately scrapped last year.

In April 2021, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all performed dramatic U-turns on the project and pulled out of the Super League as a result of fan protests.
