Inter owned striker Gabriel 'Gabigol' Barbosa became a Flamengo hero last night after scoring two goals in the dying minutes of the Copa Libertadores final to gift the Brazilian club their second ever Copa Libertadores trophy.
The 23-year-old striker spoke to Brazilian broadcaster Globo after the game.
“I could say many things, but first I want to thank God for this special moment. A moment that will be remembered for the rest of my life, a historic moment for all of us Flamengo fans and for us Brazilians.”
“Many thanks to my family, to the staff, to the players, to the nation that invaded Peru. I just want to say thank you. Historical moment.”
Gabigol's two goals yesterday have seen his goal tally for the season raise to 40 in 54 appearances across all competitions also providing ten assists. His brace in the final also meant that he became the top goalscorer of the Copa Libertadores on 9 goals in 12 matches.
The 23-year-old was sent off in the dying seconds of the game for taunting River Plate fans.

Can't ignore this. The figures are compelling: 9 in 12 in the Copa and 40 in 54 with 10 assists in the League. Barbosa is back, but a good dose of humility and further hardwork will not hurt his reputation..Be humble
