According to the latest report from journalist Daniele Longo, Cardinale and Ibrahimovic are confident of appointing the team's new coach and club sporting director before June 10, with Glasner and Pochettino now candidates for the new coach.

Reportedly, the 2026-27 Serie A schedule will be announced in the next few hours, and in less than a month, the new summer transfer window will officially open. However, Milan has yet to confirm a head coach, management, or CEO.

This delay has undoubtedly cast a shadow over Milan's new plans. In RedBird's initial management plan, this transformation was supposed to develop precisely on a timeline, entirely focused within one week.

But in reality, due to some rejections (such as those from Iraola and Xavi) and some negotiators still under contract asking for more time (such as Rangnick), things have progressed slowly.

However, Cardinale and Ibrahimovic are confident that Milan's new direction will be determined before June 10 – the new deadline for appointing a new coach and sporting director.

In the next few hours, Milan's senior management team plans to finalize the list of candidates through a conference call and conduct more in-depth discussions on relevant plans and content.

Calvelli is about to be appointed CEO: it is currently unclear whether he will serve in an interim role during the transition or take on the position long-term.

Slot is no longer a suitable candidate for Milan coach: he has decided to calmly consider his new journey and does not intend to restart his coaching career now. The pain of his unexpected dismissal by Liverpool has not yet healed, so he cannot immediately enter into negotiations with other clubs.

The competition has narrowed down to two strong candidates: Glasner and Pochettino. On Tuesday, in a five-hour meeting in Germany, Glasner won everyone's favor with his philosophy, passion, and ambition.

Glasner is clearly in the lead at the moment because he has no direct connection with Rangnick and also lists Milan as his top priority, but Pochettino should not be ignored.

Pochettino has already reached a verbal agreement with Ibrahimovic for a two-year contract worth 5 million euros per year; the only drawback is that he is currently leading the US team in the World Cup.
