Gareth Bale has spoken personally with Real Madrid directors and told them of his intention to stay despite the player not fitting in with Zidane's plans.
Despite the Welsh striker not forming part of coach Zinedine Zidane's plans for the 2019-20 season the player has personally communicated to Madrid club directors that he plans to stay. The decision was initially conveyed to the board via his agent Jonathan Barnett, but before leaving to join the Welsh national squad, Bale himself requested a meeting to tell the club of his resolution.
Bale was adamant in his decision and has even told the LaLiga side not to entertain potential bids for his signature, such is his determination to remain with the Bernabéu outfit.
Real Madrid have been surprised by Bale's pronouncement and are now coming to terms of having the Cardiff born player at the club for the forthcoming campaign. An exit was always a tricky proposition given the high salary that the player commands combined with a fee for his signature that would be acceptable for Madrid with transfer portal specialists Transfermarkt currently attributing a 70 million euro vale to his head. At present it appears more likely that Bale will stay as opposed to a summer exit from the Spanish side.
Secondary role
If the Welsh international does stay at the club, it would appear that he will have a secondary role within Zidane's squad. During the conversation between the club and player, Bale explained that personal reasons were at the heart of his determination to stay in Madrid, maintaining that his family are now very settled in the Spanish capital.
Bale is aware that it will be complicated to command his current salary (17 million euro) at another side and is aware the arrival of the likes of Jovic, Hazard and Rodrygo will push the Welsh player further down the pecking order. Real Madrid are hoping to loan out Brahim and sell Lucas Vazquez, Raul de Tomas and Borja Mayoral to free up space in what is now becoming an overcrowded first team squad. They were also hoping to offload Gareth Bale, but with recent developments, that is now looking like an unlikely scenario.

This guy has got balls, he is making Perez to swallow his mistakes raw. It's more than double jeopardy, first let Zizou & CR7 go, hire Lopetegui at the wrong time n cost Spain a good world cup. Then lack attacking verve n sack Lopetegui, hire Santi Solari but him too needs CR7, fire him eventually and then rehire Zizou. The problem was still there- Bale. Zizou comes & wants Bale gone but Bale already got a very long rich contract....so why leave when no one wants to take you at such exorbitant wages? Perez simply had to listen to Zizou from the beginning, sell Bale n keep CR7!!! Now how many circles has he run to try and get over CR7???

Bale should just leave the club and stop disturbing the authorities, even legends with Spanish blood left so how much more Bale that is not contributing anything. He will just be at the club and be creating troubles in the dressing room. Secondly , teams not showing any interest in him is a good evidence that he is no longer a top player. He should just go away.

I believe he still has potential to deliver. With new players coming, a good partnership could be formed. Considered a secondary player will depend on players performance and I won't be surprised if he perform and become a first 11. He is a goal scorer from any angle and in every manner talking especially about shots and headers that Madrid is known of. If he wants to stay, it's bc he's ready to deliver. Let's forget about the bad season, better performance ahead

Bale is a great player I don't know why he doesn't want to leave after all the criticism he has been given over his poor form, he still wants to stay, and besides even though he stays ye won't be used by Zidane because Zidane doesn't like him and with hazard and jovic already at Real Madrid it will he hard and difficult for him to play, my advise for him is to leave and join a club where he can talk and respected, because in Spain he doesn't understand their language after 5 years, but good luck to him hope things turn better for him.

The downfall of Real Madrid this season is partially Bale's doing. A story of betrayal, trust and personal motives. Here's how. The Welshman was always on very good terms with the club, teammates and imortantly Real Madrid's superstar player Cristiano Ronaldo. He even publically declared Ronaldo as someone he idolized and looked up to. And Ronaldo respected him in return, evident in interviews where the Portuguese fiercely defended Bale and his Real Madrid teammates. However over the years with the formation of Real Madrid's invincible BBC attack and Ronaldo always grabbing the headlines from the trio, the obvious envy began to show. Bale felt that he too deserved the credit always given to Ronaldo, and rightly he deserved so too. Bale was nothing short of incredible when he is in form and has been decisive in important games. But his injuries were the inevitable setbacks. Along the line was also Ronaldo's deteriorating relationship with club president Perez that had been made public. Bale, with the frustration of success under Ronaldo's shadow, capitalized on this opportunity and found a way to get on the good side of the president. The Ronaldo-Perez fued didn't get any better and the president soon enough made the plot - to get rid of Ronaldo. But Perez needed a superstar with the potential to replace the No. 7. Perez knew his board would never support the idea to let go of a five-time BallonDOr winner who was showing no signs of slowing down. Financially it was impossible to buy a replacement for Ronaldo and practically no one, apart from Messi, was near close to the contributions he did on the field. Perez insists that Ronaldo is not getting better with age and their investment to replace their leading man is ready to take the wheel. Gareth Bale. There would be no need to spend for a transfer replacement and Bale has actually shown that he does have the potential to fill Ronaldo's shoes. The only thing Perez and Bale needed to do was to prove it. Zidane was made aware of these discussions and he immediately did not approve. Zidane had plans to improve Real Madrid's aging dressing room, and offloading Ronaldo was not part of this. Zidane also knew Bale's part in the plot and lost all his respect for the player. But the opportunity came. The 2017-2018 UCL final between Real Madrid and Liverpool. Ronaldo had been goaless since the semi-finals and again still couldn't find the back of the net against Liverpool. In part, the plan was in progress. And then Bale put the remaining pieces of the plot together. Two goals including an astonishing overhead kick. Straight after the match Bale dropped the final piece. He made the declaration for all to hear, including the Real Madrid board. He threatened to leave. Bale's outburst in reference was actually a claim to dethrone Ronaldo. The Real Madrid board were left looking at the downside of a situation. Take the risk with a 33-year old player who finally showed his aging factor and lose their next big thing in Bale, or continue European dominance with a star player who proved that he is capable to lead Real Madrid in Europe's biggest club stage arena the UCL. Perez eventually got full support to offload arguably the greatest player to ever wear the Real Madrid jersey. Zidane foresaw the tragedy that lay ahead for the club and resigned. Real Madrid not only lost their key star player that guaranteed them 50 goals per season, they also lost a coach who led them to three consecutive UCL titles. The football world was left in shock and for a moment forgot about the 2018 World Cup that was underway. Ronaldo did not want to leave. He repeatedly made remarks that he wanted to retire in Madrid. The outcome of Perez and Bale's doing put to motion the most heartbreaking divorce of a player and club. Zidane knows this. And for that the French world cup winner would never put his trust in Bale. This may explain why Zidane denied Bale the luxury to play even a second of perhaps his last game. Harsh? I think justified. Remember the Welshman did not stop after his victorious triumph in taking Ronaldo's throne. He added salt to the wound early in the 2018-2019 season when he said Ronaldo's departure finally made the team stronger and played more like a team. This was assurance to the Real Madrid board that they made the right choice. We all saw what unfolded next. Bale failed miserably as the club's new key player throughout the season, as did the Real Madrid management board for believing in their president. Perez never really believed in Bale. The Welshman's uncontained jealousy over a fellow player was the perfect leverage Perez had needed to successfully carry out his plans. Bale now realizing he was merely a pawn in football politics, and now threatens to STAY at Real Madrid! A stand totally opposite to statements he made only a year ago when he threatened to leave. With no further use to Perez and an ongoing flop on the field, Bale will leave the club whether he likes it or not, dragged out the back door or given a hero's farewell. Bale chose treachery, betrayal and decided to step out of his league to mix with politics. Perez is president of a football powerhouse who by nature is devious for the best interest of the club. Life goes on for Perez, but the backfire on Bale has left his professional football career in Europe's top flight at stake. Do I feel sorry for him? No.

He still have a valid contract and received handsome wages, either he play or not the club still have to pay... If Zidane fail he is the one to be sacked... not the player. Good decision Bale..

bale will get better next season. he always performs when he is not on the focus of others. how did bale ended being the only waste player after this worst season where every player of madrid except benzema and vini failed. hazard can bring a lot of goodness to bale. sell Lucas isco asensio. keep bale rodrigo brahim. that will be better. don't blame bale for everything. he deserves respect. he performed in big games when cristiano disappeared. respect atleast !

Bale is a great player instead giving him much playing time he on the bench most of the time which is wrong, as Countinio is giving more playing time but on the wrong side of the field both career jeopardized by Zizou and Vel

Well he(Bale) is being smart I think.. But it would be great if the club let him go now. He hasn’t helped this squad for the past 2 seasons. Is hard to say if he actually enjoys playing in the field.

Just leave and accept pay cut if there is an offer/transfer opportunity. Bring glory to the new club and show your calibre, don't waste your precious time. There are no guarantee los blancos can bring back CL glory as there are so many challenging clubs keep improving.
