Sergio Ramos' 34th birthday is the perfect time for MARCA to review his season so far, while also looking at his rise in white and his future at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Here, we take a look at the various storylines surrounding the Real Madrid captain right now.
His 34th birthday
The captain hits an age that sees so many footballers edge closer to their end in the game, but he's still showing his excellence at the highest level.
With Ramos wearing the armband, Real Madrid have enjoyed their best Champions League dominance, winning three in a row.
His 15 seasons
Los Blancos agreed to spend 27 million euros on him on August 31, 2005, when he was still a teenager.
Just 50 games were enough to convince Florentino Perez that he was a player Real Madrid could do with, and the president splashed out on the Spaniard to come and share the dressing room with the Galacticos of ZInedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Ronaldo and David Beckham.
He debuted on September 10, playing at centre-back, but he spent much of his early time at the club as a right-back before Jose Mourinho moved him centrally.
His 2019/20 so far
Ramos is the second-most used player this season with 3,033 minutes - behind only Casemiro - and he's got a strong partnership with Raphael Varane.
Eder Militao's arrival hasn't posed any threat to the Andalusian, and he's even been the second-most prolific goalscorer as well.
Undisputed leadership
Beyond his obvious statistical contribution, Ramos is a flag-bearer for the club.
He's led both on and off the pitch and there can be no doubting how important a role he plays.
To see how much he's missed when he doesn't play, you only need to look at the second leg collapse against Ajax last term.
More than a defender
Ramos has scored so many big goals for Real Madrid, and he totals at 91 for the club and 21 for Spain.
He's always scored goals, including some in Champions League finals at the most vital moments.
A pending renewal
Ramos' contract ends in 2021, but the player wants to continue at the Bernabeu.
The tendency to only offer one-year extensions to players over 32 could be an issue, but there seems to be an understanding between the two parties.
The club don't want to set a precedent, though, and it was this rule that saw Pepe leave the club, but the captain could be treated with more flexibility.
