Before the Serie A Matchday 5 top-of-the-table clash between Roma and Inter at home, Roma's sporting director, Tony D'Amico, was interviewed by DAZN on September 19,(CEST).
"As our coach said, Inter is a test for us. After all, they are the reigning Serie A champions. They are a strong team, well-balanced in all aspects, and competing against a top team like them is a motivation for us," Tony D'Amico said.
Can you talk about Balerdi's situation?
"We needed to bring in an experienced player to strengthen the defense. Although he is young, he has already accumulated extensive match experience. I have been following him for several years, and a favorable opportunity to acquire him arose in the final week before the transfer window closed. We acted quickly and are now very happy to have him. We know his qualities very well—both as a player and as a person—just as we know all the players in our squad."
What happened between you and Luca Percassi after the Roma vs. Atalanta match?
"I think in a pre-match atmosphere like today, in a stadium like this, we should focus on enjoying the game. We hope for an ideal result, and as for the future, we will think about it later."
How important is it for Kouadio Koné to return from injury?
"Kouadio is in good form, and we are very satisfied with him, just as we are with the entire team. We know that everyone can contribute, and we rely on the strength of the whole team—especially after the international break, when the schedule will become very busy. We hope he also delivers an excellent performance tonight."
Did Inter ask you about Koné?
"No, not at all."
