Cristian Romero will reportedly inform Atalanta that he want's to join Tottenham this summer as he feels its 'an opportunity he can't miss'.
The Argentine centre-back has been linked with a move to Nuno Espirito Santos' side to replace Toby Alderweireld, who joined Qatar based club Al-Duhail last week.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano Spurs made an improved bid for Romero reportedly worth Β£43 million on Friday, and are waiting to see if it will be accepted.
The 23-year-old was an integral part of the Atalanta side that finished third and was named Serie A's best defender last season.
Romero is currently on loan at the Nerazzurri from Juventus and they have the option to sign him permanently at the end of the deal.
In response to the rumours liking him with a move to Tottenham, Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini said: 'I haven't actually seen Romero yet, as he'll be back on Monday.
'We'll see what his position is, then of course there is a negotiation in progress between the two clubs. We'll see what the evaluations will be if he does leave.'
Romero was also part of the Argentina side that won the Copa America this summer and was named in the team of the tournament.
Spurs have already signed Sevilla winger Bryan Gil, in a swap deal involving Erik Lamela and goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season's loan from Atalanta.

seriously?currently Atlanta is a greater club to spurs and I wonder where the opportunity came from, that's a downgrade for me, I would rather remain where I am

With Atlanta youβd be playing Champions League. With Tottenham you would be missing out on the Champions League and missing out in trophies. I would stay at Atlanta if I were you or find a better club.

It is time for him to move to greener pastures. He will accomplish a lot at Tottenham.
