Arsenal beat Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Sunday to win the FA Community Shield and Manchester United legend Roy Keane has had his say on Declan Rice ahead of the new season
Roy Keane believes Arsenal paid "way too much" for Declan Rice in the summer transfer window following his £105million move from West Ham United.
"I'm eager to learn, as I keep saying, I'm eager to keep improving and I'm sure with this team we've got, the manager, the staff, everyone so together, we can achieve anything this year. We just need to stay focused, stay together and enjoy today."
Rice was one of three summer signings who started the game for Arsenal, with Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz also impressing. The trio arrived at Emirates Stadium for a combined fee of more than £200million and it's expected they will help Mikel Arteta's side launch another title charge.
However, former Man United star Keane believes Arsenal may have paid over the odds for Rice, although he did describe the former West Ham captain as a "really good player".
Speaking to ITV1, Keane said: "He is obviously going to be surrounded by better players, different demands. If he is going to play a little higher up the pitch, I think he definitely has that quality in terms of adding more goals. He's obviously got that physical strength, he can get in the box.
"They have obviously paid way too much for him. He's certainly not worth over £100 million, Declan Rice, but a really good player.
"We'll find out over the next year or two how good Declan is. He turns up every week, he is a big strong boy - again, you talk about that physicality, they lacked that in the last month or two (of last season).
"Has he got that really top quality in terms of seeing a pass and getting nine, 10 goals? We'll soon find out."

Talk is cheap. Mr. Keane please if you don't have anything better to say keep mute because, the season has not even started and you are judging. Did you do same when your former team bought "Maguire" with such amount. Hypocrite...!!
