SPAL have been forced to abandon their pursuit of Genoa striker Andrea Pinamonti according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert, Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Ferrara based club are on the look-out for a new striker as they look to bolster their options in the striker department and help them in their fight against relegation from Serie A to Serie B.

They identified Pinamonti as a potential signing but due to Genoa having a gentleman's agreement with Inter to allow them to buy back the youngster, SPAL have been forced to look elsewhere.

SPAL, as per the report, are now plotting a move for Pinamonti's Genoa teammate Antonio Sanabria instead and talks with the Rossoblu are already understood to be underway. In the coming days, club management will decide whether or not to take talks further or give up on the idea and go after someone else instead.
