Sassuolo coach Alberto Aquilani stated in a pre-match press conference that he respects Milan coach Amorim and is proud to have played for Milan.
Speaking about his and Amorim's shared experience at Sporting CP, Aquilani said: "I will greet him in Italian; I no longer remember Portuguese (laughs). I only spent one season in Portugal. We both know Jorge Jesus, who greatly inspired me and introduced me to many new things and ideas. That experience was very important. Amorim made history there, leading the team to a title after many years and having several very high-level seasons. I have great respect for him."
Speaking about his time at Milan, Aquilani said: "I am proud to have worn that glorious jersey. When you walk into the Milanello training ground, you feel the greatness of this club. I played in a very strong team, I think it was the last strong team before the squad was dismantled, during the time Berlusconi and Galliani were in charge of the club. I was also very unlucky, as an injury affected me."
