Monday night belonged to Sergio Ramos at the Santiago Bernabeu. The defender's evening began with a tribute from Luis Rubiales who handed him a plaque as he won his 122nd game for his country against the Faroe Islands on Friday, more than any other player has managed.
Goals have always been part of Ramos' game, but never more so than in his recent Spain appearances, and he wanted to add to his impressive hot streak for his country against Sweden. First he had a header saved by Robin Olsen, then an overhead kick that flew off target, but he eventually found the net with a second-half penalty to mark his 20th Spain goal.
The strike was his seventh in his last eight appearances for La Roja, scoring in each of this season's four international breaks. Additionally, his spot-kick was the 11th he's converted this season, maintaining a perfect record from 12 yards.
With 20 goals to his name, the Real Madrid captain is now level with Telmo Zarra as the 11th highest goalscorer for Spain, though he's still two goals shy of Daniel Passarella as the most prolific defender in international football.
From the spot, he stuttered and waited for Olsen to move before gently sending the ball in the opposite direction. Before the game's end, he handed another penalty over to Alvaro Morata, proving his worth as a captain as well as a marksman.
Don't forget, the 'defender' has scored 109 goals in his career.

If Sergio Ramos went to Man Utd he would have been a striker and benched Lukaku

if Ramos is in England he would have won the ballon d'or because English journalists know how to market their players from premier league by overating them.

I don't care what anyone thinks, Sergio Ramos is the GREATEST EVER DEFENDER. He has won everything available for a Player. Name it; the World Cup, European Cups, Champions League, La Liga, Copa Del Rey, CWC, Super Cup. Just name it, and he has more Goals than most Strikers. You can't deny the fact that he is the Best of all time in his Position

20 goals for Spain. 109 career goals in total. And they call Sergio Ramos a 'defender' 🤷♂️
