Slot: Wirtz may have 6 assists, De Bruyne also struggled to adapt EPL at first

Arne Slot: "If you spend so much money on a signing, people mainly look at goals and assists, but I can tell you that he may already have had six or seven assists. Look at the passes he's made to his teammates, and these passes just didn't result in goals.

"One of the most spectacular examples was the game against Chelsea, where he beautifully passed the ball to Salah just one minute after coming on, and for Salah, 99 out of 100 shots would have resulted in a goal.

"I'd say 98 times, because the last time he received such a pass was in a match against Atlético Madrid, when Wirtz passed the ball to Salah, but Salah's shot hit the post.

"When he gave his teammates opportunities, their shots were a bit unlucky, but it's normal for a 22-year-old player to play in another country, not to mention in the Premier League.

"Maybe I'm underestimating Kevin De Bruyne, the best midfielder in Premier League history, right now. He was only 21 or 22 years old when he joined Chelsea. I'd like to say, give him some time. I'm definitely going to give him some time, but at the same time, he's been a bit unlucky.

"He must play, and he has already played many games. Since he comes from a different league and has played so many games, he occasionally has to play some games that he is not quite used to.

"This is normal, just like what I've done with Salah and many other players before. To perform at his best, he certainly needs to play, and that's what he's doing and what he'll do in the coming weeks.
