With Suarez out injured for the next few months, the Uruguayan has welcomed the emergency addition of Martin Braithwaite to the squad.
"Bringing in players is good because it makes it more competitive and you're fighting more for your place," he said.
"I know how old I am and that I have to limit myself a bit sometimes.
"Competition is healthy and for the good of the team.
"Martin is going to surprise [people].
"He's at a great level.
"He was the best player Leganes had and, with the players he has around him at Barcelona, he can reach his potential."
Another forward that has been linked with Barcelona is Inter's Lautaro Martinez and Suarez is a big fan of his fellow South American.
"Lautaro has a lot of quality because of the level he's now showing with Argentina and Inter," he said.
"It's his second season in Italy and he's been on great form.
"But you have to understand that we, the players, don't make the decisions.
"We don't make the decisions.
"If it'd been down to the players, we would've brought in forwards a long time ago.
"I've been saying for two years that it would be good to bring in a forward, a young forward so that they can learn for when I leave the club, but they didn't listen to me."
