Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is still looking for a club, despite leaving the Red Devils in July last year.
After spending 12 years at Old Trafford, the goalkeeper, 33, stated that it was the 'right time to undertake a new challenge', before parting company with the Red Devils.
United held face-to-face talks with the Spanish goalkeeper, with Erik ten Hag's lack of faith in the shot-stopper being one cause for his departure.
De Gea joined United in 2011 for £18.9million with his contract expiring last season - with United reluctant to meet his demands over a new deal.
The Spaniard had married his long-term partner Edurne Garcia amid his contract standoff with Manchester United, with De Gea announcing he was leaving the club not long after their wedding.
It's been a year since the goalkeeper left the club and he is yet to find a new club despite being strongly linked with a move to Italian club Genoa.
But that move appears to have now collapsed, with De Gea's wage demands being unrealistic according to Sky Sports.
But it appears his wage demands are the issue. De Gea, who made 545 appearances for Man United and 190 clean sheets, is reportedly looking for a contract that will earn him a whopping £5million per year, according to TEAMtalk.
That will mean, according to the news outlet, that he would earn upwards of £80,000-per-week on those wage demands.
De Gea was one of Man United's highest earners netting an astonishing £375,000-a-week, before dismissing a new contract from the Red Devils in July, 2023.
The 33-year-old has been linked with several clubs including Saudi Pro League Side Al-Shabab while Newcastle had also been rumoured to be interested.
De Gea has now also been linked with a move to Serie A side Fiorentina, per TEAMtalk. They state that 'Fiorentina also approached De Gea a few days ago' but the Spaniard's wage demands were reportedly 'unacceptable'.
The shot-stopper had rather unrealistically also reportedly been prepared to re-join Man United, despite United having signed Andre Onana last season - while Inter Milan had also reportedly sought to sign him on as a replacement for the Cameroonian.
According to the Daily Record, the Italian club were ready to offer him a deal of around £4m per year.
It is thought that De Gea is keen on returning to Spain, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both having been interested in the shot-stopper.
His departure from Man United came after the goalkeeper had also claimed the Premier League's Golden Glove award for the 2022-23 season.
In a statement, United announced that the goalkeeper was in talks with the club over a new deal but would eventually leave last July.
'David De Gea's contract is due to run out but discussions remain open with the long-serving keeper,' United said.
It came after the United shot-stopper endured an indifferent season making several errors, notably in games against West Ham and Manchester City - being at fault for Ilkay Gundogan's match-winning goal in the FA Cup final against United's city rivals. However, De Gea, 33, is on the hunt for a new club and eagle-eyed fans have spotted the goalkeeper back in training as he hunts for a new deal.

I don’t know why he is still searching for big money. Keepers don’t take much. He should just lower his price and he will get a club
he is not a world class keeper.. keeper who does mistakes every single time. is very overrated

before dismissing a new contract from the Red Devils in July, 2023....Stop lying, it was United that wants to trim those top earners by not giving some of them contract, United didn't offer him anything @tal.

The offer from united was the highest in europe yet he refused it. He wanted more. Am sure he would have gone to Saudi but I think the wife refused, he came back to United to replace or become second to Onana but the club had moved on.
No Saudi club needs his services. David is not a good goalkeeper. someone who can spoil his game at any giving time with 100's of mistakes in a season 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 SO YOU THINK SAUDI CLUB'S THEY DON'T AWARE OF THAT? SAUDI CLUB'S WANT GOOD THING'S NOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE MONEY.

DAVID D IS A VERY STUPID GUY WHO DON'T KNOW HIMSELF. ONLY MANSESERR UNITED WILL PAY HIM THAT SALARY HE WAS RECEIVING AT OLD TRAFFORD..BECAUSE THEY DON'T HOW TO DO BUSINESS AND WHERE TO SPEND MONEY. DAVID D SHOULD ASK HIMSELF WHY HE STILL DON'T HAVE A CLUB. A GOALKEEPER WHO CAN PUNISH HIS TEAM AT ANYTIME WITH SO MANY MISTAKES . KEEP WAITING FOR THE BIG MONEY 💰 🤑
