Thiago Motta then & now: From Genoa player to Genoa manager

Thiago Motta spent his early career at Barcelona, where he was injury-prone. In 2008, Motta joined Genoa on a free transfer, after passing a medical. He performed consistently well with Genoa and was a regular in the starting eleven. In 2009, he joined Inter Milan, where he played two and a half seasons before joining Paris Saint-Germain in January 2012. In 2018, Motta announced his retirement. On 21 October 2019, his former club Genoa, at the time occupying the second-to-last position in Serie A, announced Motta's appointment as the club's new manager.
