Torino are ready to rival Atalanta for Milan and Uruguay left-back Diego Laxalt.
Laxalt’s proposed move to Atalanta is continuing to stall, and Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that has opened the door to Toro.
Di Marzio explains talks are progressing at such a rate that the Granata will speak to Milan officials later today, having already held discussions with the 26-year-old’s agent.
However, it is warned a deal could hinge on whether Walter Mazzarri’s side are able to overturn their Europa League playoff with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.
Olympique Marseille have also been linked with the ex-Genoa wide man, while Fener could go back in for him if Dalbert chooses Fiorentina or Nice.

I mean hes 26 turning 27, I don't know if I'd classify him as promising anymore

so a good world cup performance is sometimes a good representation to go with the player's full profile

The guy is a wing back. Why play him in a back 4? Why was he bought in the first place?

He wasn't even a starter for Uruguay, Arsenal bought him because he was great at Samp

We signed him before the World Cup had even started, based off a great season for Sampdoria

I know I am biased because I am Uruguayan, but who doesn't like a wing back like Laxalt..

Laxalt was given a bit of time as a sub last year both on the wing and at left back and didn’t really shine. Both Theo and RR are better than him. If we had a formation with wingers, we probably would have kept him as a sub, but right now he is a 3rd option LB that can go for €15M.

I think his size has a lot to do with it. Italy like Uruguay are not too fond of small defenders..

Gasperini knows how to make wingbacks perform well. It’s his specialty

Good deal, he could be very useful

That is true, but the way he tells the story doesn't make it sound like a flop.,

Yes, and Gattuso didn't allow his fullbacks to be too offensive, which basically kept him from playing to his strengths. I'm pretty sure he was subbed in as a winger a few times for better defensive coverage, though.

He's played well in Italy for a long while and has been solid for the national team as well. The sale certainly didn't happen because of the WC.

Good move for all parties involved.

Well, until they pay his full salary and 1/2 m fee for the loan i would still like it, we have 3 lbs even without him so it's better than nothing

One thing about Giampaolo is that he is very good at developing & improving players. Both at Empoli and Sampdoria he has raised the game of so many players.

that's a fair point, I am more skeptical of that however as sometimes players raise their game regardless of coaching staff. It can be natural progression.

35mil could've been spent on De Paul or another trequartista then they could've let suso go and found another striker to compliment Piatek. Bennacer and Krunic were good buys

I would call it decent, not very good. I like the bennacer signing though

I really hope Laxalt works out for Atalanta.
