Tottenham risk transfer disruption with signings on hold until new manager appointment

Tottenham are risking disruption to their summer transfer plans amid the ongoing uncertainty over their prolonged searches for a head coach and director of football.

Whilst many of the club's Premier League rivals are already well on their way to executing their close-season recruitment strategies, Spurs are currently being non-committal in the transfer market with regards to incomings and outgoings.

Mail Sport has learned that the club are currently telling prospective new signings that they want to seek guidance from their next head coach before perusing deals.

At least one Premier League player the club have held a long-term interest in is having doubts over a move to Tottenham due to the uncertainty at the top of the club.

Likewise, current squad members who may be available this summer under the previous regime are in a similar position as they wait to discover whether the new boss sees a future for them at the club.

It means Spurs are in danger of being left behind in the summer transfer market with clubs already ahead of them in terms of preparations for the window opening on July 1.

Spurs are still to appoint a new boss despite Antonio Conte's departure arriving on March 26 having run into difficulties in landing Julian Naglesmann and Arne Slot - a sequence of 66 days.

In truth, the Spurs hierarchy knew they would be looking for a new manager this summer as early as January.

Their search for a new director of football has been on going since April 21.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou's chances of replacing current interim head coach Ryan Mason have improved following the collapse of Slot's possible move to Spurs last week, while Luis Enrique remains in contention.

Postecoglou, whose side face Inverness in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday as they look to complete a domestic treble, is open to taking over at Spurs.

Elsewhere, former River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo could emerge as a late option while Julian Naglesmann remains available.
