UEFA’s first meeting between the Leagues, ECA and FIFPro has been concluded ahead of the scheduled conference call of the UEFA Executive Committee.
The Coronavirus outbreak has put football on a standstill and the consequences for the European Leagues rely on the decision to postpone Euro 2020 this summer.
Both L'Equipe and Reuters have reported that UEFA have cancelled their hotel bookings in Copenhagen, signalling that the Finals will be postponed, but there's still no official announcement.
The hypotheses reported shows us two options between a winter competition running from November 23 to December 23 in 2020 or to move the Finals to next summer, both offering implications and lost revenue for UEFA.
The Athletic has reported that UEFA are asking for a significant compensation from the European clubs to postpone the Finals as UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has been occupied in conference calls with the respective Leagues since 9:00 AM this morning.
The first meeting between UEFA and representatives of the ECA, national Leagues and FIFpro has finished and now they move on to discuss with the 55 national associations before a video meeting between the UEFA Executive Committee.
Nations League will also be affected and could need modifying already in its second and FIFA will also be involved in the discussions, as a potential Euro 2020 next summer will affect the new Club World Cup format scheduled for the summer of 2021.
The UEFA Executive Committee will meet at 13:00 GMT.
