Giampiero Ventura admits he was ‘wrong’ to take on the Italy job but insists ‘I’ll take back the previous 33 years of my career’ at Salernitana.
Ventura is looking to relaunch his career at the age of 71 with Serie B side Salernitana, having failed to qualify Italy for the 2018 World Cup.
“Maybe I was wrong to take on the job,” he said at his official unveiling on Thursday.
“Two defeats were enough to make people forget the previous 33 years of my career.
“Now I want to take them back and I will.”
A four-game stint at Chievo last season aside, the Coach also coached the likes of Cagliari, Bari and Torino with varying degrees of success.

Italy 🇮🇹 were not that bad they were just really unlucky to be in the same group as Spain 🇪🇸 instead of having their own group in which they throughly deserved to have!

It was not you to be wrong to take the job....it was wrong for whoever to give you the opportunity n thus burn you n 33 years of hard work out....just because at that time the FIGC had no other options ...no one wanted the job...shambolic times...
