Vieri: Italy will win Euro 2020 & only France have a superior squad

Christian Vieri can “sense Italy are going to win Euro 2020” and believes “only France have a superior squad” to the Azzurri.

Roberto Mancini’s men qualified for the tournament with a perfect record of 10 victories.

They will face Turkey, Switzerland and Wales in the group stage, playing all those games at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

“I already wrote to Mancio and told him that only France have a superior squad to Italy,” Vieri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I don’t know why, I can just sense we’re going to win it. In the space of 18 months, Mancini has completely turned the Italy side inside out, the way nobody had done before. We are young, have quality and are courageous. The fans have returned to seriously being in love with the Nazionale.

“I don’t want to miss a single game. I already told Roberto to get me two-three tickets for every match, no excuses!”

Mancini has his old Sampdoria teammate Gianluca Vialli as part of his staff with the Italy squad now.

“They are my too idols! Having people like Vialli, Lele Oriali or in my day Gigi Riva there is fundamental, as players feel they have someone else to rely on other than the coach. A word from them and you immediately feel calm again.”
