Christian Vieri believes Inter will close much of the gap between themselves and Juventus ‘in a couple of years’.

“I believe that in a couple of years, Inter can close a large part of the current gap,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Besides they’re still third. In this year-and-a half with Spalletti, Inter have changed a lot in a positive way and are more solid than in recent years.

“Unfortunately, in Italy we think Inter and Milan must always have the strength to win the Scudetto.

“I really like Piatek. He goes deep, splits the opposing line of defence and runs the attack all by himself.

“He’s someone who hurts you, always.”

Vieri then had his say on Cristiano Ronaldo and another of his former clubs, Juve.

“When a similar alien chooses you, it means the club are doing things in the best way. It’s a show of strength.

“Juve against Atletico Madrid will be like a Final.”

Finally, what does the former Italy hitman think about the national team?

“Fortunately, there’s Mancini…”
