France midfielder Paul Pogba is a doubt for the 2022 World Cup after undergoing surgery.
Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba has undergone surgery and is a doubt for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 29-year-old had surgery on his right knee, putting his participation in the tournament in doubt.
“This morning Pogba trained for the second time, but then stopped, and it was then decided that he undergo surgery,” said Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri.
“We will realistically get him back in January.”
Asked if Pogba would be ready for France’s World Cup defence, Allegri added: “The World Cup is not my problem, Juventus’ problem is that he comes back in January.”
Juventus said the surgery - selective external arthroscopic meniscectomy - was “a complete success”.
The former Manchester United midfielder had reportedly initially hoped to avoid surgery, choosing instead to have “alternative treatments” in a bid to keep his World Cup hopes alive.
France’s first World Cup match is against Australia on 22 November. It remains unclear as to whether Pogba will miss the World Cup in Qatar, however, Foot National reported last month that the surgery would rule Pogba out for four months, meaning the World Cup winner would miss the competition.

U won’t do any better than allegri. Fielding Kostic shows u are doomed to perform the same. Kostic makes no through passes or any dribble attempt. The moment he gets the ball he only things of a cross and more often than not, his crosses are terrible
