David de Gea 'AGREES to new Manchester United deal' despite patchy form this season

Manchester United goalkeeper has agreed a contract extension with the club and is expected to sign shortly, reports have said.

The 32-year-old's current deal is up at the end of the season, although United do have the option too add another 12 months.

His form has been patchy this season. No one has more Premier League clean sheets but he has made a number of errors.

All three of the goals United conceded in the second leg of United's Europa League quarter final tie with Sevilla came from de Gea errors, while their recent 1-0 loss to West ham also came from a goalkeeping mistake.

Erik ten Hag is still keen to keep the Spaniard, though, as reports in the Telegraph claim he has agreed terms for a new deal, which is expected to be announced once all parties have signed.

United are not believed to have used the extension in de Gea's initial contract, as it would have meant maintaining his £350,000-a-week salary.

He is said to have taken a significant wage cut in exchange for a longer deal.
