Wolfsburg vs Bayern: probable line-ups, match stats

Bayern Munich will look to end a four-game winless run in all competitions on Saturday when they travel to a Wolfsburg side without a victory since Matchday 2 (kick-off 15:30 CEST / 14:30 BST / 9.30am ET).

Latest

The Wolves took a point of Bayern in a surprise 2-2 at the Allianz Arena last season, but have lost their last four matches on home turf against the Bavarians. Bruno Labbadia has largely preferred Wout Weghorst ahead of Daniel Ginczek up front this term in a tried and trusted 4-3-3 formation, but could mix things up after the 2-0 defeat at Werder Bremen on Matchday 7 was the second time in three outings his side failed to hit the net. Central midfielders Josuha Guilavogui and Ignacio Camacho miss out, while new signing Felix Klaus is still sidelined with injury.

James Rodriguez will have hopes of starting for Bayern after a superb display for Colombia against the USA during the international break, while Robert Lewandowski – who famously scored five goals in nine minutes against Wolfsburg in 2015 – is looking to end his four-game scoring drought. Jerome Boateng is a doubt for head coach Niko Kovac after suffering a calf complaint on international duty with Germany, while Leon Goretzka is also racing to be fit after withdrawing from the Germany squad with calf trouble. Kingsley Coman, Corentin Tolisso and Rafinha are all definitely out.

Match stats

Wolfsburg won their opening two games of the season, but are winless in their last five.

Wolfsburg trio Mehmedi, Steffen and Weghorst have all scored two Bundesliga goals in 2018/19.

Labbadia has lost 12 of his 13 meetings with Bayern as a coach, the 1-0 win whilst in charge of Hamburg in September 2009 being the exception.

Bayern have failed to score in their last two Bundesliga matches. Three would be an unwanted club record.

The defending champions last occupied a place outside the top five at this stage in a season in 2010/11.

Lewandowski scored five goals in an historic nine-minute spell against Wolfsburg in September 2015. The Pole has netted three times in the Bundesliga this season, his last strike coming at Schalke on Matchday 4.
