Lionel Messi left another big mark in LaLiga Santander with his performance against Real Betis last weekend and it was one that blew Sergio Canales away.
A hat-trick and a standing ovation, coupled with chants of the Argentine's name form the home support, capped off a phenomenal display.
Canales revealed just how tough it is to share a field with Messi when he is that kind of form.
How is Messi on the pitch?
The best in the world. Not only because of what he did against us at our stadium the other day. He defines matches and does it year after year at a level that has never been seen before. We're fortunate to have been able to enjoy him for such a long time in our league.
What did the ovation of the Betis fans do for you?
It was natural and is proof of the greatness of the Betis support and their knowledge. To leave a field that isn't yours with such an ovation is always something very beautiful.
Does a lot change when you see him on TV compared to on the pitch?
It is the same, but on the television you enjoy him and on the field you suffer. That's the difference.
