Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti shrugged off Mauro Icardi controversy and said Jose Mourinho rumours are “disrespectful to Luciano Spalletti.”
Zanetti was in London on Saturday for a charity event at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Inter Forever beat Spurs Legends 5-4.
Also present was Treble winner Mourinho, who is eager to get back to work next season after his dismissal by Manchester United.
“We always see Mourinho with great affection, as we experienced unforgettable moments together,” Zanetti told Sky Sport Italia.
“He came to say hello and we were all very pleased. I do want to point out he was not the Coach of the Inter Forever team, as that was Francesco Toldo, so Mourinho was just visiting.”
When asked if Mourinho could soon he back on the Inter bench for real, Zanetti did not appreciate the line of questioning.
“That seems disrespectful to Luciano Spalletti, who is preparing for a very important match against Lazio. There are still 10 games to go that will decide our future and we hope to achieve Champions League qualification.”
Icardi returned to training this week after he was stripped of the captaincy on February 13, but Spalletti still left him out of the squad to face Lazio for reasons that are unclear.
“I have nothing to add. Icardi was available again after a month of treatment,” continued Zanetti.
“The technical staff thought it best to take it slowly reintroducing him to match situations, so I see nothing strange in that. There has been too much talk around this and the important thing is to remain united to achieve the Champions League qualification.”

The way Jose is speaking nowadays (he says he wants to win a 3rd UCL)..he is probably marketing himself to PSG..coz PSG is the only club that can match his ambition...but the problem is do PSG want him?..I think Jose is done at the top level..the truth will finally dawn on him

You’ve got Monaco on this list but fail to mention that Leonardo Jardim has gone back there and steered them away from the relegation zone and has been promised funds to improve the squad this summer????

Mourinho's past his prime. Football has past him. Whomever hires him will find out quickly that he and his tactics are old news.

A man who brings expertise, tactical know how as well as toxicity. You get all three, which brings inevitable misgivings. 🤷♂️

I love him but, here’s how that goes, he wins the league (as everyone there does) goes out in champions league quarters then tells everyone how the club has no history to be in semis of champions league and how big an achievement the title in Italy is
