Zoff: Juventus wrong to give Yildiz the captain's armband

Juventus great Dino Zoff admits he was surprised with coach Igor Tudor's decision to give Kenan Yildiz the captain's armband in midweek.

After taking the armband from Manuel Locatelli during their recent clash with Verona, Yildiz started as Juve captain in this week's Champions League defeat at Real Madrid.

After the match, Yilidiz admits he was proud to lead the team at the Santiago Bernabeu, insisting the responsibility didn't weigh on his performance.

But Zoff told Tuttosport: "I didn't understand this at all. Why did they give him the captain's armband?

"I think it's a mistake to give the captain's armband to such a young player, burdening him with excessive responsibility and pressure.

"Moreover, there are certainly more experienced players in the squad who can fill the role without weighing down Yildiz's development."
