Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen youngster Florian Wirtz, say reports, but the playmaker could cost as much as £43 million.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a stunning start to the season and his form has caught the eye of the two Premier League sides, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
However, Leverkusen will demand a figure between €40-50m (£34-43m) for the promising youngster, a price tag that could deter would-be suitors.
Wirtz has produced four goals and four assists in five games in all competitions so far, continuing his rapid ascendancy in senior football.
The teenager first broke into the Leverkusen side in the 2019-20 season, before featuring regularly last term as the successor to Chelsea's Kai Havertz.
A return of eight goals and eight assists from 38 appearances in all competitions in 2020-21 was mightily impressive from a player who only celebrated his 18th birthday in May.
Wirtz’s blistering start to the new campaign saw him earn his first senior Germany call-up during the September international break, when he featured in his country’s wins against Liechtenstein, Armenia and Iceland.
The versatile attacker, who came through the FC Koln youth system, can play on either wing as well as his preferred role as a number 10.
He would certainly be a welcome addition to an Arsenal side that has struggled for goals this season, scoring just two in their five Premier League games so far.
The north London club have been focused on youth with their transfer business recently, and brought in several exciting talents over the summer.
Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale, both 23, joined along with 22-year-olds Martin Odegaard and Takehiro Tomiyasu and 21-year-olds Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

But its the problem we are in .We are relying upon young players more than we should be .Look at that squad .You know I also know ,We all know young players are fine but it's not good enough to have the whole squad young .Tell me who's experienced? The most experienced in this 11 excluding auba is only partey who's also not that old .We need some experienced forwards . Vlahovic is too young .He suits for Florentine cause there he has some experienced once but in arsenal no one is there to loft his head up when he needs .So I think we should buy a new experienced forward ,or else just stick with auba laca for the moment when new ones come .Laca can also hold the ball impressively .Just our strikers have lost their confidence .(my opinion)
I get your perspective but who would you bring in to replace Laca? There aren't many better experienced strikers who would want to come to the Arsenal right now

Just some thoughtless verbosity here, how long ago was the Man u coach being criticized for being unfit to manage the team bcoz it started loosing matches after he signed as permanent coach? Did you call it the Man U sinking ship then? Later on the coach has stabilized the teams performance and you call Arsenal the sinking ship when it's manager performed much better than Man U's if you plot the two teams trajectories under the two managers. Say the same thing when Arteta is the same number of years at Arsenal as your coach please. We are navigating a transition after a legendary Manager but unlike you we have performed much better considering even the fact that we have spent less compared to you to get to where you want to be, champions of any competition! 😆
I’ve seen plenty deluded Arsenal fans but none were as bad as you. Yes, Ole was and is unfit for the United job. That hasn’t changed. But the difference is we’re still getting Champions League football consistently while you can’t even get Europa League consistently. Your point is irrelevant. And in what world has your clueless manager performed better than our clueless manager? You finished last season in mid-table and you’ll do so again this season. Go back to your cave of delusion.

Auba is too old and we need a clinical ball holding striker for Arteta's system to work, which Vlahovic definitely suits plus he's young and he's getting good experience starting in the serie A, plus there aren't many better available young strikers.

Yeah, Wirtz may have impressed Arsenal, but Arsenal have definitely not impressed Wirtz 😂 No self-respecting young talent is looking to join that sinking ship 🤡

you joked about arsenal yeah you are cheering yr self for those twenty but you wish that you lifted a trophy in the last 5years
Of course I would’ve liked my team to have won trophies in the last 5 years. What fan doesn’t want their team to win trophies? But I would rather be in the situation we’re in than the horror show Arsenal is going through. Your “trophies” are like a small band-aid, but the problem is you have hundreds of bullet wounds 😂 An FA cup & Charity Shield isn’t going to change the fact that you’re a mediocre mid-table team. If you honestly believe that those trophies are better than consistently securing Champions League football, you’re lying to yourself my friend.

Trophies since Arsenal last won the Premier League: United: 1 Champions League trophy, 1 Europa League trophy, 1 Club World Cup trophy, 5 league titles, 2 FA cups, 4 EFL cups & 6 Community Shields Arsenal: 5 FA Cups & 5 Community Shields That’s 20 trophies to your 10 trophies. And that doesn’t even tell the whole story, since the quality of trophies you’ve won pale in comparison to what we’ve won. We won more league titles in 8 years than you have since 1971. Not to mention the European Cups that you’ve never touched and the Club World Cup that you’ve never been eligible to play in. So yeah, make fun of us when we lose to Young Boys & brag about your recent “trophies” all you like. We both know which club is quickly dying and it’s not United 🤭

I can rightly posit that,if Arsenal can add to their squad with a talented and future young lad like wirtz. The squad is absolutely restored. Let's go lad's...,Gunners 4life....

We need someone who is well experienced in the front .And lokonga surely has to do at this club So partey and loko are fine .Auba is better than vlahovic even laca .Just their confidence is lost .We should buy a better one if not make them like they were times before .Although nice thinking#CoYG
